During my time as an art student I participated in the seminar series entitled Sex(y) Kunst led by artists and researchers Christel Sverre and Wencke Mühleisen. The series ended with the publication The Meaning of Sex. For my contribution to the publication I invited fellow student and artist Jan Freuchen to a collaboration. The project was to make a comment on the one-sided representation of foreign sexuality in Norwegian media. My impression was that whenever one read in the newspaper about foreign bodies and sexualities it always had negative connotations to subjects such as assault rape, forced marriage, female genital mutilation, social control and so on. So we made a kind of parody where I photographed foreigners in sexual postures and Jan Freuchen added found descriptions from the tv tableau.
